Introduction
In this diocese the pastoral team is part of the Diocesan Curia under the direction of one of the Episcopal Vicars who is assisted by a Pastoral Team Coordinator, responsible for the day to day running of the pastoral team and their work with parishes and others in the diocese. The team’s work covers the following pastoral areas: adult formation, justice and peace, liturgy, learning disabilities, marriage and family life, mission and unity, social action and youth.

The Diocesan Pastoral Team (DPT) supports parishes by:
- offering advice and support in areas where additional information is needed or where new initiatives are being set up
- suggesting appropriate resources
- providing training for deanery/parish group leaders
- maintaining a network of Diocesan contacts
- enabling parishes to work collaboratively
- supporting Diocesan liturgical celebrations & events
All members of the DPT are experienced parish workers and can support a range of deanery / parish activities.
Each DPT member is a specialist adviser and has specialist responsibilities.
Current specialisms within the DPT are:

Links to the Bishop
The Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Affairs meets with the Bishop as often as required. The Bishop also meets from time to time with the Pastoral Team Coordinator and individual advisers.
The Diocesan Pastoral Council
The Diocesan Pastoral Council has been in place since pentecost 2008. The Episcopal Vicar and Pastoral Team Coordinator are both ex-officio members of the Diocesan Pastoral Council and under the direction of the Bishop responsible for developing and supporting its work.
