What is it?

The Diploma in Higher Education Religious Education is a part-time, modular course delivered by the University of Brighton at various locations around the diocese It also incorporates the Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies (the CCRS). The Diploma provides an academic route for those who wish to explore theology and religious education largely within the Christian tradition. It is designed for students who are currently engaged in some form of professional or voluntary religious education/formation in schools, parishes or religious communities.

Who is this for?

Anyone interested in increasing his or her understanding of religious formation in a Catholic or Anglican context would find this useful. The Diploma is particularly relevant to teachers in Anglican or Catholic schools, to parish catechists or to anyone who seeks a critical understanding of Christian faith formation.

Introduction to Theology Summer School

The Universiy runs a five day intensive summer school which incorporates modules of the CCRS. This year (2007) it will run from 30 July to 3rd August. click here to download details of the summer school (pdf)

BA (Hons) Religious Education Studies

Students who have successfully completed the Diploma and who wish to continue to degree level will complete a third year on systematic theology and spirituality. The honours component consists of a research methods module followed by the opportunity to complete a dissertation on a topic of the student's choice with tutorial supervision.
