World Youth Day Madrid
Every year since 1984 the Vatican have invited Young People to celebrate World Youth Day each year. Most years this happens at local levels, but every 2 or 3 years the Pope invited Young People to join him for a special international festival.
The diocese of Arundel & Brighton has been represented at most of the international World Youth Days. We took over 50 people to Sydney in 2008, and there were large groups in Koln (2005), Toronto (2002) and many of the others.
The reports and photos from World Youth Day Sydney 2008 can be found at www.yaab.co.uk.
The next international World Youth Day will be in Madrid in 2011 (approximate dates 10-23 August 2011). Planning is now underway and discernment days for youth leaders are currently taking place.
Applications packs will be ready in early 2010 for downloading. We really do want you to get in touch if you are interested in going – no obligation – to give us an idea of numbers.
