The Friends of St Cuthman's

St Cuthman's - 'A Still Point in a Turning World'

The Friends of St Cuthman's brings together people who care about the welfare of this beautiful and unique place of retreat, who want to support its work and help sustain it into the future.

St Cuthman's provides an invaluable space for peaceful reflection away from the pressing cares of life with time for spiritual renewal, surrounded by the peace and beauty of creation

We all need friends to support us and keep us going! The support of guests and friends is precious to St Cuthman's which is heavily subsidised by the Diocese of Arunde & Brighton. Income from guest fees and donations does not cover all the running costs of the house and grounds. With ever-increasing pressure on diocesan finances, St Cuthman's will inevitably have to become more self-sufficient. In joining the Friends of St Cuthman's you could help us in several important ways:

Publicity: Help us promote St Cuthman's to new people (especially the young). Tell them about St Cuthman's; display and circulate our publicity material; refer them to our website. Write a piece in your church, work or organisation bulletin; give a talk to a group; give our Gift Vouchers as presents; …and so on!

Financial Aid: Friends membership subscriptions bring invaluable additional income, helping to reduce the heavy cost of running and staffing St Cuthman's. (As a Retreat House we cannot charge hotel prices though costs are much the same!).

Practical: Could you help as a volunteer – (occasional or regular)? Do you have professional or practical skills that might be helpful to us? Perhaps you could hold a fundraising event (e.g. a coffee morning/ an open garden/ a quiz night) Or sponsor or donate items required for the house and garden? Maybe you would be willing to help with The Friends (e.g. secretarial; administration; finance; the newsletter; events; envelope stuffing etc).

Events: Come and support our occasional events, activities and concerts. Bring friends along to share in them.

Prayer: This is the most powerful way in which you can help us - by asking God to bless and prosper the work of St Cuthman's and all whom it serves. Please keep us in your prayers - as we keep you in ours.
