Bishop Richard Moth Christmas Greeting 2016
It is only a matter of weeks since the close of the Jubilee of Mercy and while the Jubilee Year may be over, the Door of Mercy, opened for us by the Birth of the Saviour, will always be open.
Jesus was born in a world that was, in many ways, like our own. The ravages of war and occupation, the presence of the refugee and disposed, were realities then as they are today. There are countless numbers across our world for whom this Christmas will be a time of desolation, fear and loss. Let us be open to them in our prayer and in our efforts to welcome those who have fled their homeland as refugees.
The Christ-child is Immanuel – God-with-us. His Gospel calls us to be His presence in the world. May care for the lonely and housebound, the sick and suffering, the homeless and the prisoner be the measure of our celebration of the Lord’s Birth. May this Christmas be a time when we are instruments of the Father’s Mercy to all.
With every Blessing for you all in this wonderful Season of Christmas.
