Continue to Pray for Fr Gerard Hatton
The family of Fr Gerard Hatton has asked the Diocese to share the following further message:
‘Fr Gerard remains on the High Dependency Unit at St George’s Hospital, but is now in the general ward and making steady progress. He surprises everyone each day, with the new things that he is able to say and do.
The physiotherapist continues to support Fr Gerard, as daily his strength is improving, as is his appetite.
Recently with assistance, Fr Gerard was able to leave the ward for a short time to visit the chapel. This was something that he was very keen to do. During a visit from Fr Mark Higgins, one of the hospital chaplains, Fr Gerard was able to say that he wanted to join him for mass on Sunday morning in the chapel. Fr Mark is going to arrange for this to be possible and Gerard is very much looking forward to it.
Thank you so much for your continuous prayers. Your support has been overwhelming and has shown us how loved Fr Gerard is.’
Bishop Richard would also like to thank everyone for their many prayers and concern for Fr Gerard and asks that you continue to pray for him. He is also grateful to Fr Dominic O’Hara who continues to provide cover for Sunday Masses in the parish until Fr Gerard is able to return.
Since this last update we are pleased to say that Fr Gerard is now out of hospital and taking a time of convalesence. Please continue to pray for is ongoing recovery
